THE "SAVING" PROCESS

The Moser family has been in the fruit and nursery industry for over 75 years.
The original Grandpa Karl Moser grew up on a fruit farm as a young boy. Went to War in North Africa in 1942 and came back with an injured foot after setting off a landmine with his jeep on reconisence behind the lines. His buddies got him back and he was sent back to the States to recover.  Once he was better he started to farm a mixed fruit and vegetable farm.  Around 1950 he started selling strawberry plants and fruit tree nursery stock as a sideline.
Growing up on the farm the “new” Grandpa Matt Moser followed in his father’s footsteps on a fruit and vegetable farm in the “Fruit Belt” of Southwest Michigan. Grandpa Karl sold fruit tree nursery stock for over 40 years until he turned it over to his son Matt in the mid-1990s. Matt has also started a greenhouse operation which he sold after several years, and when he took over the fruit tree sales business he also started to grow some nursery stock on a custom basis, while continuing to sell fruit trees to commercial growers and others.

In 2007 he started GrandpasOrchard.com which was dedicated to serving home gardeners and hobbyists with high quality deciduous fruit trees for their home gardens and hobby orchards. As he grew older he looked for a partner for Grandpa’s Orchard to take over and his daughter Melissa Stamp stepped in and is now the owner and operator. Grandpa still helps a lot and supports it as much as possible, but his back is getting old and he can’t do the physical lifting and other work required to grow nursery stock in the field.  Over 15 years ago he devised the  FastFruitTrees™  method of growing fruit trees in controlled greenhouse environment.

But, he still has life left in him and so has decided to once again start to grow and propagate some fruit trees--- one of the passions in his life. But, on a more limited basis. Grandpa Matt will help save your fruit tree if you want.

Grandpa Matt invented the innovative FastFruitTrees™ method of propagating and growing trees in the greenhouse several years ago.  We grow the trees in a controlled greenhouse environment in a special compostable peat pot which can be planted directly in the orchard at the appropriate time of year.

Using the FastFruitTree™  we will try to save your tree through either budding, grafting or a combination of methods to hopefully be successful. The method depends on the time of year and also the quality of the scionwood you send us. Grandpa Matt has propagated thousands of trees in his life and will do his best.

At this time we are only doing apple unless we have other roots available to us.

Poor quality scionwood greatly reduces the chances of success. Good quality scionwood improves the chances greatly.
